One thing is certain: as a seasoned product designer, I am sure that the best decision designers and developers can take when one is creating an interface is to clearly report what is going on behind the scene, because of our natural need for control. More on that in the blog post.

Honest UX talks is my go-to UX podcast to listen to when washing the dishes or doing some mindless tasks. Anfisa Bogomolova and Ioana Teleanu just launched a new episode, recorded live at the Hatch Conference in Berlin. This time, they discussed design market predictions, and, as always, I find their opinions refreshingly down-to-earth. The market is changing, and the design profession is in need of a makeover.

Design decisions might seem simple, but they’re actually quite complex. 💫 Junior designers often make decisions based on: Whether they’ve seen something similar before. Whether they personally like it. Senior designers think more deeply: Will this solve the problem? How much effort will it take? Is it standard practice? Are our users familiar with it? Does it need to scale, and can it? Does it fit our design system? Is it accessible to everyone? Are there any risks? What other parts of the product could be affected? Will we learn something valuable from launching it? The priority of each question depends on your product, team, and organization. Embracing this thought process is key: To becoming a more analytical designer. To effectively communicating with stakeholders. To building your design authority. So, next time you’re making a design decision, incorporate this thinking into your approach. And remember, communicating your process is just as crucial as the decision itself. #productdesign #uxui #designtips

Integrating the myriad dimensions of identity during your product development process feels daunting, doesn't it? Tip for the designers endlessly working on their portfolio: Don’t plan to create/rebuild the portfolio... Just document your work and process continously, it’s much easier, and brings more value to people that want to know your skills.

I've been actively exploring the job market in recent weeks, as I plan to add one or two more projects under my belt in the coming months. Some key takeaways from recent job market navigation. 👇 ➡ I am based in Romania hence the market seems rough for designers currently with less and less jobs onto the market. ➡ Salaries have slightly decreased in value compared to the beginning of 2024 for example. ➡ Hard to find fully remote positions locally. ➡ Juniors have a tough time to make it to the industry. ➡ Unrealistic expectations form companies who are hiring designers. As there is not an urge to land something, I calmly analized what’s going on and I decided to stick to my plan as follows: ✅ Keep on staying present online and strenghten my personal brand small tweaks to my portfolio. ✅ Connect with potential employers/ clients from my network. ✅ Identify pain points of companies/clients that I aim to work for ✅ writing content. ✅ Work on one of my case studies. ✅ Getting leads. I already got leads coming in and I am looking forward to the coming months regarding the job market situation for designers. Once again, I cannot stressed enough the importance of having a personal brand as long as a high quality portfolio who makes recruiters/clients say no, wanting to get to know you.

TLDR: Style guides are to design systems what logos are to brands; definitely an important part of the whole, but just one part of a larger concept. #designsystems
